Biology Project - Foldable vertebrates

En la asignatura de Biología, el alumnado de 1.o de ESO realiza una actividad manipulativa para reforzar el estudio de los animales vertebrados. La tarea consiste en elaborar un foldable, un recurso visual y plegable que les permite organizar la información de forma clara, atractiva y fácil de consultar.

Antes de comenzar la elaboración del foldable, los estudiantes trabajan los contenidos mediante vídeos explicativos en inglés sobre cada uno de los grupos de vertebrados: mamíferos, aves, reptiles, anfibios y peces. Estos vídeos sirven como introducción al tema y ayudan a mejorar la comprensión tanto científica como lingüística, integrando así el aprendizaje de Biología con el uso del inglés.

Una vez vistos los vídeos, recopilamos la información más relevante y el alumnado la representa en su foldable mediante un texto breve y un dibujo indicando las partes más importantes del cuerpo de cada ejemplo de vertebrado.

In the Biology subject, first-year secondary students carry out a hands-on activity to reinforce the study of vertebrate animals. The task consists of creating a foldable, a visual and interactive resource that allows them to organize information in a clear, engaging, and easy-to-review way.

Before starting the foldable, students work on the content through explanatory videos in English about each group of vertebrates: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. These videos serve as an introduction to the topic and help improve both scientific and linguistic understanding, thus integrating the learning of Biology with the use of English.

Once the videos have been watched, the most relevant information is collected, and students represent it in their foldable using a short text and a drawing, indicating the most important parts of the body for each example of vertebrate.
