Sunday, January 19th

We began the journey. As we stepped off the train, the first thing we felt was a sensation of cold, but we didn't mind as the excitement of meeting others overwhelmed us. Our host family took us to their homes, and we started talking with them to get to know them better. At the end of this day, we had dinner with them and rested for the beginning of the week.

Domingo 19 de enero

Empezamos el viaje. Al bajar del tren lo primero que sentimos fue una sensación de frío, pero no nos importó ya que nos ganaba la emoción de conocer a los demás. Nuestra host-family nos llevó a sus casas y empezamos a hablar con ellos para conocerlos mejor. Al final de este día, cenamos con ellos y descansamos para el principio de la semana.

Monday, January 20th

We arrived at the school at 9:00 am. Then we had to present our projects which were about the location of Roquetas de Mar, our gastronomy, festivals, and more, and to conclude, we presented a project about flamenco and a video edited by Soryn.

Later, we had a musical rehearsal and then enjoyed a short break. When we finished our day at the institute, we visited a castle and had a great time.

Next, we had free time and Soryn went to Marc's piano classes. Once we got home, we called some friends and family via video call and played video games. After that, we had dinner with our host family and talked with them for a while before going to bed.

Lunes 20 de enero

Llegamos a la escuela a las 9:00 am. Luego tuvimos que presentar nuestros proyectos que trataban sobre la localización de Roquetas de Mar, nuestra gastronomía, fiestas, y demás, y para finalizar, presentamos un proyecto sobre el flamenco y un vídeo editado por Soryn.

Más tarde tuvimos un ensayo musical y después disfrutamos de un pequeño descanso. Cuando terminamos nuestra jornada en el instituto, visitamos un castillo y disfrutamos muchísimo.

A continuación tuvimos tiempo libre y Soryn fue a las clases de piano de Marc. Una vez que llegamos a casa, llamamos a algunos amigos y familiares por video llamada y jugamos a videojuegos. Después cenamos con nuestra familia de acogida y para hablamos con ellos durante un rato antes de irnos a la cama.

Monday, January 20th

Eager to start the week, the Dutch students made a presentation singing at the institute. We were all surprised by how well they sang. Afterwards, we went to explore the city with our hosts, and in the meantime, we were answering questions to get to know the city better. We loved the city, but we had to leave for the next activity. That activity involved learning to play some chords with the instrument chosen for Friday's concert. We learned very quickly and really liked the song. To end the day, we had a show by Marianne van Koolwijk where we ate various dishes from different countries. Everything was delicious, and we were fascinated by the show.

Lunes 20 de enero

Con ganas de empezar la semana,los holandeses hicieron una presentacion cantando en el instituto. Nos sorprendió a todos como cantaban. Después nos fuimos a ver la ciudad con nuestros hosts y mientras tanto estuvimos respondiendo preguntas para conocer la ciudad. Nos encantó la ciudad, pero tuvimos que irnos para la siguiente actividad. Esa actividad consistía en aprender a tocar unos acordes con el instrumento elegido para el concierto del viernes. Aprendimos muy rápido y nos gustó mucho la canción. Para terminar el día, tuvimos un espectáculo hecho por Marianne van Koolwijk en el que comimos distintas comidas de diferentes países. Estaba todo buenísimo y nos fascinó el espectáculo.

Tuesday, January 23rd

On Tuesday morning we started the day with a singing workshop with Mr. Aantjes, where we learned to differentiate between multiple tones and practiced some songs, such as "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay and "Unholy" by Sam Smith.

Meanwhile, the local television channel Zuitwest TV was recording a bit of the class to later interview Marc, a Dutch student; and Jose and Mar, two Spanish students. We had a short break of fifteen minutes and returned for the third rehearsal, preparing for the concert on Friday. After this activity, we had another break, which we used to have lunch. At one o'clock, we tasted the typical Dutch pancakes with syrup and powdered sugar. When we finished, each Dutch student showed their Spanish guest around the school with various games during the tour. Once everyone had finished, we went home with our families and discovered that an afternoon of rain and wind awaited us.

Martes 23 de enero

La mañana del martes comenzó con un taller de canto con Mr. Aantjes en el cual aprendimos a diferenciar los múltiples tonos y practicamos algunas canciones, como "Viva la Vida" de Coldplay y "Unholy" de Sam Smith.

Mientras tanto el canal de televisión local Zuitwest TV grababa un poco de la clase para después entrevistar a Marc, un estudiante holandés; y a Jose y a Mar, dos estudiantes españoles. Tuvimos un pequeño descanso de quince minutos y volvimos para el tercer ensayo preparándonos el concierto del viernes. Tras esta actividad tuvimos otro descanso el cual aprovechamos para comer. A la una degustamos los típicos pancakes holandeses con sirope y azúcar glas. Cuando terminamos, cada estudiante holandés enseñó el instituto a su huésped español con varios juegos durante el recorrido. Una vez que todos hubimos terminado nos fuimos a casa con nuestras familias y descubrimos que nos esperaba una tarde de lluvia y viento.

Friday, January 26th

In the morning, we rehearsed the songs for the concert and had a trombone workshop where we had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we all performed a concert together, singing and playing different songs. It was an incredible concert where everything went very well after so many rehearsals. After the concert, we all went for a walk around the town, had dinner, and then went to Janneke's house, and that was it. It was an incredible day, one of the best of the week.

Viernes 26 de enero

Por la mañana ensayamos las canciones para el concierto y luego hicimos un taller de trombón en el cual nos divertimos mucho. Después, hicimos un concierto todos juntos, cantando y tocando diferentes canciones, fue un concierto increíble en el que después de tantos ensayos para ellos salió todo muy bien. Al finalizar el concierto fuimos todos a dar un paseo por el pueblo y a cenar y después fuimos a casa de Janneke, y eso fue todo. Fue un día increíble, de los mejores de la semana.

Saturday, January 27th

We woke up a bit earlier than usual because we had to be at the station by quarter past eight. We got dressed, showered, had breakfast, and headed there. We spent half an hour chatting with everyone, but the train arrived, and we had to say goodbye, but not before taking a farewell photo.

We took two trains to get to Amsterdam, went to the hostel, which honestly didn't look like one, left our suitcases and backpacks there, and went to our next stop: the Maritime Museum!

Before arriving, we had to stop for lunch, but even so, we had an hour to wander around the city. Then we got on the boat, and the tour began.

After finishing it, we went straight to the hostel, had dinner all together, and went to bed to prepare for the last day. But not before playing a few games of foosball and billiards!

Sábado 27 de enero

Nos despertamos un poco antes de lo normal pues teníamos que estar en la estación a las ocho y cuarto. Nos vestimos, nos duchamos, desayunamos y fuimos allí. Estuvimos media hora hablando con todos, pero el tren llegó y tuvimos que despedirnos, no sin antes hacernos una foto de despedida.

Cogimos dos trenes para llegar a Ámsterdam, fuimos al hostal, que sinceramente no parecía uno, dejamos allí las maletas y las mochilas y fuimos a nuestra siguiente parada: ¡la Guía Marítima por la ciudad!

Antes de llegar tuvimos que pararnos a comer, pero aún así tuvimos una hora para dar una vuelta por la ciudad. Después nos subimos al barco y empezó la guía.

Tras finalizarla, fuimos directos al albergue, cenamos todos juntos y nos acostamos para prepararnos para el último día. ¡Pero no sin antes echar unas pocas partidas al futbolín y al billar!
