Erasmus+ Diary 9 - Long-term mobility in Michelbach (Germany)

Friday, February 21, 2025 – Sunday, February 23, 2025 On Friday morning, we didn't have our usual classes because the final round of the debate competition took place. Even though the debate was in German, I could tell that all the students involved were very well-prepared, had excellent speaking skills, and showed great charisma. I really enjoyed watching it. In the end, only two girls qualified for the regional debates. In the afternoon, we went to athletics practice, and later, we had dinner with two friends. On Saturday, we visited another museum. This one focused on how different materials react in various situations, covering topics in physics, logic, and other experiment-based activities. Everything was interactive, and visitors could learn the reasoning behind each experiment. The explanations were also available in English. In the afternoon, Lilli and I went to the stable for the last time. We took a lovely walk around the mountain with Sienna, the horse. On Sunday afterno...

Erasmus+ Diary 8 - Long-term mobility in Michelbach (Germany)

Tuesday, 18 February 2025 – Thursday, 20 February 2025 On Tuesday afternoon, we baked something to bring to school the next day. On Wednesday morning, we didn’t have the last lesson because we had to prepare the venue for a debate that was scheduled for the afternoon. The debate was a school event where some students were given different topics and had to use their knowledge, along with the arguments they had prepared, to perform well. The main topics were related to politics. That’s why we had to bake something—to contribute to the snacks available at the debate. It wasn’t just Lilli and me; everyone in our class was assigned to bring a snack. On Thursday morning, we had our first lessons as usual. Then, we had the rest of the day to rehearse for the musical. In the afternoon, we went to the stable.

Saturday, 15 February – Monday, 17 February 2025 On Saturday morning, we visited the Technik Museen Sinsheim Speyer and spent the entire day there. It’s an enormous museum dedicated to all types of vehicles: motorcycles, race cars, military vehicles, bicycles, trains, and even airplanes. From the newest to the oldest, many of the exhibits are still operational and occasionally used. I found it incredibly fascinating. On Sunday, after lunch, we went hiking in the mountains. Everything was covered in snow, creating breathtaking views throughout the walk. On Monday, we attended school as usual. In the afternoon, the sun shone brightly, and the snow began to melt slowly, although there’s still quite a bit left.

Wednesday, 12 February – Friday, 14 February 2025 On Wednesday, we went to school as usual, and in the afternoon, I visited a museum about the history of Schwäbisch Hall with Lilli’s brother. He had to translate everything for me because all the explanations were only in German. I found the museum fascinating, and my favorite part was the Baroque section. On Thursday morning, while we were at school, it started snowing. I was so happy! All the trees and rooftops were covered in snow, and it looked like a fairytale. In the evening, we attended the school’s prom party, which is called "Winterball." This year's theme was the 1920s. We had a fantastic time dancing and singing along to the music. On Friday afternoon, Lilli and I went sledding in the snow. It was so much fun, and the best part was that we only had to go to the hill right next to the house. On our last run, we slid all the way to the gate in front of the house!

Technology project with 3ºESO students

The Red Blue Chair is a chair designed in 1917 by Gerrit Rietveld. Inspired by the paintings of Piet Mondrian, it represents one of the earliest explorations of the De Stijl art movement in three dimensions. This piece is an icon of furniture design worldwide and is currently exhibited at the MoMA in New York. Throughout the first term, 3rd-year secondary school Technology students applied the stages of the technological process to build a scaled prototype of the Red Blue Chair . The project was carried out in teams of three students, involving tasks such as information research, object analysis, blueprint reading, and working with technical materials. Finally, the best-constructed prototypes were displayed in the school’s main hall. --------------------------------- La Silla Roja y Azul (The Red Blue Chair) es una silla diseñada en 1917 por Gerrit Rietveld. Sunday, 9 February – Tuesday, 11 February 2025 On Sunday morning, I went to watch a local American football team practice. In the afternoon, we headed to the stables. Monday was my birthday, and the family had a surprise planned for me! When I came downstairs for breakfast, they sang "Happy Birthday," and I blew out the candles. Everyone gave me a small gift, and they made a lemon cake that we enjoyed in the afternoon—by the way, it was absolutely delicious. At school, my classmates sang to me as well. It was such a nice, special day. On Tuesday afternoon, we went into the city, hoping to visit a museum. Unfortunately, it was closing just as we arrived 🥴, so we ended up spending time at a bookstore instead.

Thursday, 6 January – Saturday, 8 January 2025 On Thursday, we returned to our normal routine after the music trip and attended school until 3:45 pm. Last week, we had classes only until lunchtime because the teachers met in the afternoons for evaluation sessions. Here, they have two evaluation periods instead of the three we have in Spain. After school on Thursday, we went to the stables and stayed until late. When we got home, we showered and went straight to bed. On Friday, we had our usual shortened schedule, finishing classes at 12:45 pm. In the afternoon, we went to athletics practice, and later that evening, we attended a party in the city. The theme was "love" since Valentine's Day is coming up soon. The atmosphere was great, the music was awesome, and I met some new people. On Saturday morning, Lilli and I took the train to Stuttgart, where we spent the entire day shopping and exploring the city. It was packed with people because the weather was so nice and it wa...

Erasmus+ Diary 4 - Long-term mobility in Michelbach (Germany)

Monday, 3 February – Wednesday, 5 February 2025 On Monday, we went to the train station at 7:45 AM to catch the train to Munich. As soon as we arrived, we started rehearsals. After lunch, we continued practicing until 9:00 PM. It was exhausting, and I still had two more days ahead in Munich. On Tuesday, we had breakfast at 8:00 AM and resumed practice. After lunch at 12:00 PM, we focused on the dance section, which I especially enjoyed. We had dinner at 6:00 PM and then rehearsed the entire first part of the musical with the orchestra until 9:00 PM. After that, we had free time until bedtime at 11:30 PM. On Wednesday morning, we rehearsed the second part of the musical with the orchestra, packed our things, and checked out of the hotel before catching the train back to Schwäbisch Hall. These three days were filled with hard work and motivation from everyone, making the experience truly worthwhile.

Friday 31 January 2025 - Sunday 2 February 2025 On Friday we just had class until 12:45 h. I went to a beginners Spanish class and they asked me some questions about where I live, my family, my hobbies... And we went home for lunch. In the afternoon, we had a walk in the city, saw some stores, book shops and from there we went straight to athletics practice at 17:30 h. It was so cold that the ground of the field was frozen and after one and a half hour I couldn't feel my toes anymore even when I was running!  On Saturday afternoon we played mini golf. Lilli's little brother beat us by far.   On Sunday morning we went to the stable and cleaned it, and then we took Lilli's horse out for a walk. Before leaving I feed the horse while Lilli was organizing all the materials we had used. Here are some pictures of the place where I'm staying. Such an amazing place!

Tuesday, January 28 – Thursday, January 30, 2025 On Tuesday, we went to school and had lessons until lunchtime. In the afternoon, Lilli and I went to Schwäbisch Hall, the neighboring city, where we took a walk and explored some stores. I tried a pretzel for the first time! On Wednesday, we woke up, had breakfast as usual, and headed to school. In the afternoon, we attended a piano lesson that Lilli gives to a little boy. On Thursday, we went to school, and in the afternoon, Lilli and I went to see her horse at the stable. Her name is Sainne. We had a really nice walk in the forest and took care of everything she needed.

Erasmus+ Diary 1 - Long-term mobility in Michelbach (Germany)

------------------------------------ Saturday, January 25 – Monday, January 27, 2025 I arrived at Frankfurt Airport on Saturday evening and picked up my suitcase. Their coordinator, Angelika, was waiting for me at the exit, and she brought me to Lilli's house, my host in Germany. She showed me around her house. On Sunday morning, we woke up a bit late, so we just had breakfast and took a walk around the neighborhood. For lunch, we had a typical dish, and I thought it was very tasty! In the evening, we went to a nearby town, Schwäbisch Hall, where we went sightseeing and visited ...
